The Valley of the Ounila and the Kasbah of Telouet
Our route follows the scenic valley of the Ounila which, like many others, has its source in the great water tower of the High Atlas Mountains. The valley extends from the prestigious Ksar of Aït Benhaddou up to the vast Kasbah of Glaoui at Telouet. Erstwhile the caravans between Marrakesh and Ouarzazate passed by the river through this extraordinary countryside. Gaze at the striking contrasts between the ochre of the earth and rocks and the greenery of the plantations during our drive. After arriving in Telouet we discover the Kasbah. Isolated but yet in a dominant position it expressed the authority of the bullies (representatives of the sultan) and the Pasha (governor of an imperial city). The Kasbah controlled the oases and their access
